The Department of Homeland Security through its components, programs and initiatives is responsible for maintaining the security of U.S. borders, providing immigration services, and welcoming visitors.

• The Secure Border Initiative is a comprehensive multi-year plan to secure America’s borders and reduce illegal migration.

• National Security Presidential Directive 41 / Homeland Security Presidential Directive 13 establishes policy guidelines to enhance national and homeland security by protecting U.S. maritime interests.

• U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is responsible for the administration of immigration and naturalization adjudication functions and establishing immigration services policies and priorities.

• The U.S. Coast Guard protects the public, the environment, and U.S. economic interests—in the nation’s ports and waterways, along the coast, on international waters, or in any maritime region as required to support national security.

• U.S. Customs and Border Protection is responsible for securing our borders while also facilitating the flow of legitimate trade and travel.

• U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is responsible for the enforcement of federal immigration laws, customs laws, and air security laws.
